Case Studies

INtrinsic IN action

An armed man, left, walks as displaced people who fled the recent fighting between government and rebel forces in Bor by boat across the White Nile, prepare to sleep in the open at night in the town of Awerial, South Sudan Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. The international Red Cross said Wednesday that the road from Bor to the nearby Awerial area "is lined with thousands of people" waiting for boats so they could cross the Nile River and that the gathering of displaced is "is the largest single identified concentration of displaced people in the country so far". South Sudan Evacuation

Two international contractors were caught up in the deadly clashes between rebel and government troops. Both sustained life threatening injuries; amoung them multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, a collapsed lung and several shots to the leg. With airports and borders closed, the two injured victims were moved by vehicle (with armed security) across the border to our carefully selected remote landing site, where the medical helicopter was waiting with two doctors to medevac to a selected hospital in Kampala, Uganda.

Baghdad case study

Repatriation from Baghdad

As a 'severe' risk-rated country, all movements need to be carefully managed and planned. An international worker in Baghdad needed to reach better medical facilities, we quickly obtained confirmation he was fit to fly. We provided intelligence analysis, risk assessments and a journey management plan for his road transfer to the airport in an armoured ambulance, with a close protection team, medic and translator by his side and a second armoured vehicle accompanying them. INtrinsic ensured careful real-time monitoring of the whole operation, via our integrated medical and security platform.

Islamabad Case Study

Hospital visit in Islamabad

A British employee working in the area needed urgent medical treatment but his hotel was close to Taliban forces. Once our in-house medics talked through his condition and any concerns he had, we had a plan in place: an appointment would be booked at a trusted hospital in Islamabad, and a carefully vetted, fully trained driver would be mobilised to escort him there and back in an approved car. In-depth intelligence analysis, risk assessments and journey management plans were all monitored at our UK response centre avoiding delays and complications.

Somalia Case Study

Missing in Mogadishu

A journalist working for a UK media company had been caught up in a bomb blast, details were thin on the ground. His employers knew nothing about his condition or whereabouts. We set about locating the patient and established where he was being treated and if he was getting good medical care. Within hours, a security agent had not only found the man, but also sent pictures to our medical team - showing him injured in a hospital bed. We requested medical reports were sent, meaning our in-house doctors could assess his condition and oversee his medical treatment in preparation for repatriation to his home country.
